Streams

There are different streams under which this visa can be applied:

• Points tested stream
  • You can live, work and study in Australia indefinitely.
  • You can sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia.
  • You can travel to and from Australia multiple times.
  • You can enrol in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare.
  • You can apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible.
  • You must have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list.
  • You must have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation.
  • You must be invited to apply for this visa.
  • You must satisfy the points test.

• New Zealand stream
  • You can live, work and study in Australia indefinitely.
  • You can sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia.
  • You can travel to and from Australia multiple times.
  • You can enrol in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare.
  • You can apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible.
  • You must hold a New Zealand Special Category (subclass 444) visa.
  • You mus have usually resided in Australia for at least the last 5 years.
  • You have started living here on or before 19 February 2016.
  • In most cases, you must have a taxable income at or above a specific income threshold for each of the required income years prior to lodging an application.

• Hong Kong stream
  • You can live, work and study in Australia indefinitely.
  • You can sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia.
  • You can travel to and from Australia multiple times.
  • You can enrol in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare.
  • You can apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible.
  • You hold a Hong Kong passport or a British National (Overseas) passport.
  • You must meet certain visa and residence requirements.
