Overview

This is a temporary visa that allows the holder to visit Australia to support a child who holds a student visa.

After the grant of Student Guardian Visa (Subclass 590):

You can come to Australia to provide care and support for a student visa holder who is under 18 years of age or older due to exceptional circumstances.

You can apply for this visa from outside or inside Australia.
If applying from inside Australia, you must hold a substantive visa other than subclass 426/403/995/771/600 visa.
You must be a parent or custodian or relative of the student visa holder.
You must be able to provide accommodation, general welfare and support to the student.
You must have enough funds to pay for your stay in Australia.
You must make adequate welfare arrangements for your dependents overseas.
You must have health insurance during your stay in Australia.
You must be a genuine temporary entrant and intend to return home after completing studies in Australia.
You must meet Australian health and character requirements.
