Overview
The subclass 103 visa is an off-shore permanent visa that lets an aged parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen stay in Australia. The applicant may be on-shore or off-shore when they lodge the application, but must be outside Australia at the time the visa is granted. Due to the impact of visa capping, applicants for this visa can expect to wait about 30 years for their applications to reach the top of the queue. Even if the applicant is in Australia when they lodge their application, they will not be eligible for a bridging visa.
