Overview
This is a permanent visa which lets the child stay in Australia indefinitely. The child must be single and already in Australia staying with a relative and their parents are deceased, can’t care for them or can’t be found.The child must be in Australia at the time of visa lodgement and grant. If the child is in Australia on another visa which has a no further stay condition imposed then the child can’t apply for this visa until the imposing condition is waived.
About this Visa
After the grant of Orphan Relative visa (Subclass 837):
- The child can live, study and work in Australia permanently.
- The child can travel to and from Australia multiple times.
- The child can access Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare.
- If eligible, the child can apply for Australian citizenship.
