Applicant Eligibility (subclass 101)
- The child must be dependent on their parent who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen.
- The child must be sponsored by and eligible parent or their partner.
- The child must be outside Australia at the time of visa lodgement and grant.
- At the time of application of this visa, the child must be aged under 18 years or between 18 and 25 if studying full time or over 18 years if with a disability.
- The child must have no partner.
- The child must have appropriate written consent to migrate to Australia.
- Must meet Australian health and character requirements.
Sponsor Eligibility (subclass 101)
- Must be either an Australian citizen or permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen.
- Must be child’s parent and parent’s current partner. If you are no longer the partner of child’s parent you can still sponsor if you have the legal responsibility of the child. You can also sponsor an adopted child if you became an Australian citizen or permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen after the adoption. If you became an Australian citizen or permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen before the adoption, then child must apply for Adoption Visa (subclass 102).
- Must be aged 18 years or over.
- The sponsorship must be approved by Department of Home Affairs.
